Regrettably, urban life is contaminated by pollution, chaos, violence, loss of identity, poverty, insecurity, and marginality.
The Traffic Light for Love works as an urban icon that proposes Love as a model of reconciliation and hope for everyday life in the urban context.
Love can bring people to explore new life potentialities during or after covid-19 crises in order to find other possible universes that promotes authenticity, pluralism, building of bridges between people producing new ways of appreciating the cultural phenomena.
The work Traffic Light for Love refers to the concept of Love, a universally basic need in human life, and combines sculpture with technology. The artwork creates environmental lighting that functions according to a planned and controlled rhythm in order to create a significant transition stimulating one's feelings. Written on the traffic lights are the words Love in green and Don't Love in red, words that raise associations with regard to the children's game of plucking successive petals off a flower accompanied by he/she loves me-loves me not. The terms Love, Don't Love screened as a mechanical order given by a traffic light creates an abstraction of intricate relationships existing in society. We appreciate that the orders Love, Don't Love are of no real significance since these are sensitive actions that do not accede to the bidding of rules and regulations, and the way in which the traffic light regulates traffic in order to enable safe passage is unsuited to the task of bridging and regulating the charge of feelings in society.
The traffic light for Love will be installed in the public space of the Artists House in Tel Aviv at the street corner and in Vienna in a public space.
