The project suggests to re-think and re-imagine the meaning of the fences.
Being a bold liner element , derived from either or both safety and security reasons, the fence of public institutes separates and fragments the public space – whether it’s a street or a plaza.
The project suggests to re-think and re-imagine the meaning of the fence element by deconstructing it and giving it new functions to its now solely separation-based design. This will facilitate a multi-functional public space on both sides of the fence, making the fence the main connecting element between them.
The project, by using welding of pre-fabricated steel fence modules , sized 200/300 cm as the original module, will allow reuse and easy replacement of the modules.
