Everyday life is characterized by habits and routines. This causes us to pay little attention to the familiar. But what if we suddenly find something unexpected in the familiar? The idea “Fortuitous Encounters” proposes to alienate pieces of urban furniture and to place the unfamiliar objects in the streetscape. The unfamiliar stimulates our curiosity. Chairs with too-long legs allow us to experience the environment from a new perspective. While exploring these unfamiliar objects, people start to interact and exchange ideas — a place for fortuitous encounters is created.
